..13 Months, A Hurt Foot, and Some Pics..

Well, we made it.
Macee is one year old!
I cannot believe I have a toddler. And she is an extremely active one!

  • She's running, talking, and is starting to understand a lot of things I tell her/say to her.
  • She says a whole bunch of words now, like Mommy, Daddy, Nanny (for my mom), Bumpa (for my dad), Mamee (for Macee), puppy, baby, yep, mine, no no no, more, please (and knows the signs for those last two!), nummy.. and probably a few more that I can't really remember.
  • She's been walking since she was about 10 months old, so now she is running around like crazy!
  • Has started to climb on things, like our couch.
  • Eats anything and everything we will allow her to eat, I haven't found a thing she doesn't like yet.
  • Brings me things when I ask her to bring them to me.
  • Knows what to do when I say "change your bum" or "let's go to bed."
At her 1 year check up, she weighed 21 pounds and was 30 inches long, which puts her 50th percentile for weight and 90th for height. So, she got the tall and skinny from her daddy! She is perfectly healthy and growing right on track!
We haven't really done anything exciting lately. Alex and I are both working and Alex is going to school full time, so we hardly every get any time together. But I just keep telling myself, it'll be worth it in the end!
I have been having problems with my ankle. I don't know how I did it, but one day I woke up and it was starting to get sore. After a couple weeks, it had gotten worse and worse so I went to a podiatrist to see what was going on. The first thing the doctor thought it was, was gout. That word just sounds disgusting. It sounds like my foot would fall off at any minute.  I got put on some medicine for that, and it didn't work. So I got an ultrasound done on it. As the doctor was looking at it, the first thing he says is, "Huh..that's really weird!"...Not something you want to hear from a doctor.
Apparently I have 2 tendons, when I should only have 1.  At first, it looked like the one tendon had completely torn off the bone, which is not a good thing at all. He couldn't tell what was really going on so he ordered an MRI for me. I was freaking out about that because I know how it works and I was terrified that I was going to have to go into the machine. I don't handle tight spaces very well!
When I got there, I found out that I only had to go in feet first, and only about up to my hip so I could relax during the whole thing.
The results came back about a week later, and they were great! Turns out I was born with the 2 tendons, and the one that looked torn actually wraps around the bottom of my foot, so in the ultrasound it only looks like it was torn.
I somehow severely sprained my ankle and damaged the cartilage. I don't remember falling or twisting it in any way that I could do that much damage, but I guess I did. So I've been in a walking boot for 3 weeks, and I'm in it for another 3 weeks and am on some medication to help with the swelling and pain.

We took some family pictures, and Macee's 1 year pictures down at my grandparent's house on New Year's Day, and here are some of my favorites!

..Almost 10 Months..

I know I've been told this by just about everyone that has kids, but it is so true..
Babies grow up way too fast!!!

Macee is now almost 10 months old! Some things she does now:

  • Crawls like a mad-woman! She's been crawling since she was 6 months old, so she's pretty dang good at it!
  • Has 3 teeth.
  • Stands by herself for about a minute.
  • Takes steps while holding onto things. She can walk completely around our couch a few times without falling down.
  • Says "Mama" "Dada" "Baba" "Lala" and a few other things that I can't quite understand.
  • She also likes to point at things and I swear she says, "What's that?" It's in a cute little whisper too, and she does it with EVERYTHING!
  • Eats pretty much anything I will give her, and throws fits when I take it away.
  • Still refuses to hold her own bottle, or feed herself finger foods.
  • LOVES pickles! She sucks them completely dry!
  • She actually likes her carseat finally. Ever since we went to St. George, she has been so much better at car rides.
  • She sleeps pretty much all night, except every so often she does start crying in the middle of the night, so I just have to go re-tuck her in and she instantly falls back to sleep.

Macee has been such an amazing baby, we've been so lucky with her. She hasn't gotten sick at all, she has slept through the night since about 7 weeks old, and she's been more advanced on learning some things. I keep saying that we need to do family pictures this fall, but I think I have ran out of time to get the pretty fall colors in them. We haven't done any professional pictures of Macee yet, and I'd really like to get them done sometime.

We haven't done much since this summer. Alex has started back full time at school, and I started back full time at work, so we never see eachother anymore! I've been lucky to have all family babysit Macee while I'm at work, and I think it's been great for her to see both sets of grandparents and her Aunt Amanda every week.
I do a swap with my sister-in-law so she watched Macee on her day off, and I watch my 2 1/2 year old niece, Shaydn, on my day off. That's been interesting! I've never been around toddlers, so I feel like I was kinda thrown into it and it's been a little rough but I've gotten used to it now. And I feel like it's preparing me for what's to come when Macee is that age!

Here are some pictures of my little monkey from the past few months..

She still loves sticking out her tongue and blowing spit all over me.

Her cute BYU jersey that her Grandma and Grandpa Bunker bought her.

Us, at the Red-Blue Rivalry Classic game for Alex's birthday.

 She LOVES pickles!!!

She found the toilet paper and now does not let it go!

She's like her daddy and gets into the BYU games.

 Her first piggy-tails!

She loves this giant stuffed bunny! She tackles and wrestles it around.

 She loves her mama!

I just love this little girl so much!!!

..Summer Fun..

We've been having some fun this summer! We went to St. George for our annual Tuacahn trip with my entire family, and it was so fun! I was so worried about the car ride down with Macee because she HATES her car seat. But she did so good both ways! We got down there and had a picnic like always and then it was onto the play, which was The Little Mermaid. That is my all-time favorite Disney movie so I was SO excited to see it in real life.

So, of course it had to down pour and the play was cancelled about 30 minutes in.

I was so bummed, I almost cried! Luckily Macee had stayed back at the hotel with my dad so she wasn't in the rain at all. It was a pretty intense storm too, there was lightening and thunder all around us and the lobby at the theater flooded a little bit, so we were all standing in water and I thought I was going to die because the lightening was striking pretty close to us.
We had a pretty good vacation besides that though, lots of shopping and we went swimming in the hotel pool, which Macee LOVED. She's definitely going to be a water baby.

We had a fun 4th of July with Alex's family. Now that the firework laws have been changed, we actually wanted to do fireworks this year and so, of course, we had to get the big ones! Macee loved the lights, she was so mesmerized by them.
We just went to the Spanish Fork rodeo last night and it rained on us all night, just like the play! But this time we had ponchos and it was actually pretty fun to be in the rain all night.

Macee is now 6 1/2 months old! She is rolling all over, sits up completely on her own, and is so close to crawling! She's getting up on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth until she faceplants. At her 6 month checkup she weighed 18.1 pounds and measured 27 inches long, which is about the 85% for both so she's growing great!

Family picture on the 4th of July.

Sitting up like a big girl!

She gets frustrated when she can't crawl.

Cool baby in her new shades!

Lounging at the hotel in St. George.

My cousin Kerstin had her camera down in St. George and got some really cute shots of Macee. This one was my favorite.

In her new swimsuit!

Waiting for the play to start.

Having fun with my brother and his girlfriend.

Sittin with Grandma and Grandpa Bunker at the rodeo..They're a little obsessed with her!

..4 to 5 Months Update!..

So I could say that I try to blog, but that would be a lie. I'm horrible at keeping updated on things!
Macee is now 5 months old!!! How in the world did that happen?? She's rolling and scooting all over the place, sitting and standing up with assistance, and getting a bigger personality every day.
We finally blessed her on June 11th, which was also mine and Alex's 2 year wedding anniversary! It was a perfect day, and Alex gave her the most wonderful blessing! Since she's older, she hates to lay down or hold still for very long so I was so worried that she would scream and cry the whole time but everyone in the circle did a great job at bouncing her enough to keep her satisfied. She also got a hold of Alex's tie during it, so she kept herself entertained by trying to eat it.
She is now eating baby food, which is so much fun for me to feed her! I love the faces and sounds she makes. She's started to say "Mmmmmm!" when she takes a big bite. I don't know if it's just a coincidence or if she's copying what I do and say.
She is starting to copy some things I do, like when I stick out my tongue at her, she'll stick hers out right back! We finally did get her ears pierced! Well, I was at work and my parents came to get her, and about 10 minutes later my mom came back in with the parental consent forms for me to sign, so my mom got to hold her down and get them done so I didn't have to! They look so cute! And they make her look more like a girl, since she's pretty bald and would look like a boy if I dressed her like one.
At her last doctor's check up (which was a month ago) she weighed 14.9 pounds and measured 24.5 inches long, so she's gotta be at least 16 pounds by now. She's my little fatty, and I love it!
We took her swimming for the first time last week, and she LOVED it! We're going to St. George in 3 weeks with my whole family and I can't wait to be out in the pool all day with her, it's going to be so much fun!
She doesn't do well at all in her car seat still, so if anyone has any suggestions on how to make the 3 1/2 hour ride down easier, PLEASE let me know! I'm really dreading it.

Okay here are some pictures from the last month!

After her 4 months shots..still happy!

Little photo shoot at my Grandma's house.

First time in a restaurant high chair!

On her blessing day. Her dress is about 53 years old. My great grandma made it for my Aunt Karen, and my mom, Aunt Chris, and I all wore it for our blessings!

First time swimming!

Mmm..sweet potatoes.

She loves to sleep like this, and I always have to go fix her so her legs don't get caught in the side of the crib.

That's my girl!

I love my baby girl!!!

..Cereal, Easter, and Random Stuff..

Happy Easter everyone! It's Macee's first Easter, and I got her a few outfits, a cute little stuffed animal that sings, and some rice cereal and bowls and spoons. We've tried to do a rice feeding through a bowl and spoon, and it didn't go over very well. She loved the flavor of it, but couldn't quite get a hang of eating off the spoon. It was messy, but really funny!!
She is almost 15 weeks! Holy cow, it has gone by SO fast! She's grown out of all of her newborn stuff, and a lot of her 0-3 month ones too! It makes me kinda sad! She'll have her 4 month appointment in a couple weeks, and that means more shots..which make me so nervous! She did awesome last time, but I'm just a paranoid mommy!

This is what happens when we try tummy time...FAIL!

First time with cereal..she just smiled the whole time.
